Elmira parking amnesty begins Tuesday
ELMIRA, N.Y. -- Anyone in Elmira with unpaid parking tickets can start paying them Tuesday with no additional penalties.
On Monday night, the city council approved a two-week amnesty program. People can pay their tickets at face value through June 24th.
Starting on the 25th, police will immobilize cars with three or more outstanding tickets. Owners will then have to pay those fees, plus a $50 "boot" fee and possibly towing costs.
