Ithaca featured on History Channel
ITHACA, N.Y. -- Is Ithaca really the home of the ice cream sundae?
The History Channel show "Modern Marvels" delved into the topic on its Monday episode. The History Center in Tompkins County had an ice cream party and watched the show live. Their executive director was interviewed for the show.
Cities in Wisconsin and Illinois also claim to be home to the sundae.
Last year, two high school students found evidence that backs up the claim that an Ithacan made the first sundae ever.

"Historians come across hitherto unknown documentation every day, but the fact that this was two high school students pursuing a research project, we really think that puts a good spin on it," said Gary Reinbolt, executive director of The History Center In Tompkins County.
One piece of evidence the students found was an 1892 newspaper advertisement for a "Cherry Sunday" served at Platt & Colts in Ithaca.
