State senate hopeful wants gas tax repealed

By: Web Staff

ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- A republican state assembly hopeful says it's time to repeal the state's gasoline taxes permanently.

Christina Fadden Fitch is hoping to unseat long time incumbent democratic assemblywoman Joan Christensen in the 119th District this fall. Launching her career in her hometown of Liverpool, the hopeful admits it will be a difficult battle, but says she can win in November.

“Every two years, any incumbent is up for re-election. That's when their mandate ends. I believe that people are looking for somebody new. I think they're looking for some change. I think they're looking for a tireless advocate for Albany and I do think the chances are very good,” Fadden Fitch said.

In addition to her call for a gas tax repeal, Christina Fadden Fitch called for new limits on state spending and new help for the elderly in paying heating bills and in covering the costs of prescription drugs.
