Lisbon teacher sentenced for having sex with student
ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Lisbon teacher who admitted to having sex with her 15-year-old student apologized to the victim and his family during her sentencing.
A St. Lawrence County judge sentenced Christel Gravlin, 33, to 120 days in county jail, as well as 10 years probation. Gravlin told the court she would never intentionally hurt someone and understands adults are supposed to know right from wrong, which she failed to do.
Graviln suffers from bipolar disorder, but says she doesn't blame her disease for her mistakes. She also says she is getting the professional help to ensure this will never happen again.
In addition to her jail sentence, Gravlin must also register as a sex offender.
