POTSDAM, N.Y. -- Dozens gathered at Clarkson University's memorial sculpture early Thursday morning to honor those who lost their lives on September 11th, 2001. Four Clarkson University alumni were among the thousands killed in the attacks.

The memorial sculpture is made from pieces of the fallen World Trade Center towers.

Clarkson's ceremony focused on the importance of both remembering what was lost and learning from it in order to move on.

"If this world is going to survive, we have to get past those days, those feelings of animosity that created that moment, and it has to begin here on campuses like this with education," said Clarkson University President Anthony Collins.

The ceremony also featured several students who spoke of the acts of bravery and sacrifice that followed the attacks.
