Protest held in Syracuse

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – As the attacks continue in Gaza, members of the Islamic Society of Central New York and the Muslim American Society of Syracuse are calling on lawmakers to push for an immediate cease fire between Israel and Hamas. They gathered at the federal building in downtown Syracuse Friday afternoon.

Protestors say it's important for the U.S. government to acknowledge both sides in the conflict.

"First, we need a cease fire. Second, we need a true peace between the two countries, between two states, not just talk. We keep doing a lot of talking, but no actions,” said Magda Bayoumi.

A candle light vigil for the people of Gaza is planned for Tuesday at SU.
