Three die in North Country crashes

CLINTON COUNTY, N.Y. -- Two separate car crashes claim three lives in Clinton County.

Two teens were killed just before 8 p.m. Tuesday after their car went off Hugh Herron Road in the Town of Saranac. Police say the car hit several trees before coming to a stop. Stephanie Heath, 17, and Courtney Alexander, 18, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Minutes later, Sandra Lushia, 54, of West Chazy, was killed when she drove into the path of an oncoming vehicle at the Intersection of Route 374 and Military Turnpike in the Town of Plattsburgh. Lushia was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver of the other vehicle has minor injuries.

State Police are still investigating that crash. They are asking anyone who may have witnessed what happened to give them a call at (518) 897-2000.
