MARGARETVILLE, N.Y. -- A Delaware County woman has been arrested after police say she stole tens of thousands of dollars from an elderly woman who was under her care.

Barbara Ackerley of Margaretville is charged with grand larceny for stealing $21,039.06 from the woman. It's not clear exactly how the money was stolen but police say it happened between February 2006 and June of this year.

Ackerley was arraigned in Town of Delhi Court and then released on her own recognizance. A restraining order has been put in place to prevent her from having contact with the victim.
