High School Auctions '69 Firebird

By: Web Staff

EAST SYRACUSE, NY -- It took high schoolers a year to restore it, and now some lucky winner will go home with it.

The East Syracuse-Minoa Central School District auctioned of a 69' FireBird Trans-AM at their sixth annual Spring Cruise-in Car Show.

ESM Automotive Technology students restored the car during the school year. Everything from hot rods to motorcycles were on display, but everyone hoped to go home with the firebird.

Tickets for the raffle cost $10 each and all proceeds go towards buying next year's project.

"Especially in the economy we are in right now, extra funds aren't necessarily available to do this kind of a project. And it makes this kind of project real for the students. They know they have to work for it, hard. In order to get it to completion," said Teacher Ryan Beckley.

The winner of the Firebird will be announced on July 19th at the Syracuse Nationals.
