Officials say Boilermaker was near perfect

UTICA, N.Y. -- Race officials are calling this year's Boilermaker one of the most successful ever. Sunday's race tied for the highest in finisher percentage, with 89 percent of those registered finishing the race.

More than 10,500 runners crossed the finish line. The race was also the healthiest on record, with only 108 people needing some form of medical attention.

"If we look at the entire totality of the race, whether we're talking about the kids run, youth Olympics, Roadrunner mile, 5K, 15K, Three Mile Walk, we had the most amount of athletes out doing some Boilermaker event that we've ever had in our history," said Boilermaker Executive Director Tim Reed.
