UTICA, N.Y. -- Day one of deliberations in the trial of a man accused of killing Utica Police Officer Thomas Lindsey and still no verdict. Wesley Molina-Cirino is accused of shooting Lindsey last April during a traffic stop.
The jury heard closing arguments from both sides earlier Wednesday. The defense said Cirino did not pull the trigger and kill Officer Lindsey. They also said Sammy Rivera's testimony against the defendant is hard to believe. Rivera was driving the car that was pulled over the night of the shooting.
The prosecution said Cirino changed his testimony to police about his whereabouts during the crime.

"The testimony of Sammy Rivera are all of the reasonable doubt you will need. Being the best suspect you can get might be enough to convict in the court of public opinion,” said defense attorney Rebecca Whitman.
"No doubt about it ladies and gentlemen. From the testimony of Milek Jefferson combined with the testimony of Sammy Rivera that the guy in the white hoody, the tall skinny guy in the white hoody is the shooter, the assassin, the coward who struck down Officer Lindsey,” said Assistant District Attorney Laurie Lisi.
Jury deliberations resume Thursday morning.
