UTICA, N.Y. -- It took a jury nearly 16 hours of deliberation to find Wesley Molina Cirino guilty of aggravated murder in the death of Utica Police Officer Thomas Lindsey.

Lindsey was shot from behind during a traffic stop last April.

Friends, family, and fellow police officers who waited during the deliberation felt a sense of relief after hearing the verdict.

Thomas Lindsey's Brother, Art Lindsey said, “Now he can actually rest in peace because the person who did it now we got him. I just feel unbelievable I really can't tell you what it means to me, comfort? Yes, and all my family it's comfort. It feels great."

Molina-Cirino found guilty of aggravated murder
Guilty, that's what a jury decided in the Officer Thomas Lindsey Trial Thursday night. The man convicted of killing the Utica police officer will face life in prison without parole. Our Jim McCann reports.

Utica Police Chief C. Allen Pylman says this verdict makes sure the men and women in blue will have more respect throughout Central New York.

Assistant District Attorney Laurie Lisi couldn't agree more, "I think what this says to the community is we care about our men in blue and if people do something to hurt them we're not going to give up, we're going to do what we can to seek justice for them."
Wesley Molina Cirino will now face life in prison when he is sentenced May 22nd.
