Oswego student had rare form of meningitis

OSWEGO, N.Y. -- A SUNY Oswego student who died of meningitis earlier this month had a rare form of the disease. Craig Scheisser, 18, died March 14th. College officials said he had the B strain of the disease which is resistant to the vaccine. They also said the vaccines given to his classmates probably had no effect.

No new cases of the disease have been reported.

Two students at Cornell University are being treated for the same strain.
