CANTON, N.Y. -- Hundreds of credit and debit card users in the Canton area are victims of ID theft.

The Canton Village Police Department says hundreds of card numbers were stolen in December from the Canton Wisebuys store. Police say the numbers were used to make fake cards and purchases in New York City.

The fraud first came to light in March when the credit and debit card statements started to come in. Police in New York City have made some arrests and credit card companies and banks are working to reimburse the victims.
