ELMIRA, N.Y. -- A Workers Memorial Day was held at Wisner Park Saturday Morning in Elmira. Community members along with Elmira Mayor John Tonello and Congressional candidate Eric Massa, who is a navy veteran, were in attendance.
The event paid tribute to workers who have been injured or have lost their lives on the job. Among the honorees was Faith Hallock, the first-ever female parole officer at the Elmira Correctional Facility. She retired at age 83 and passed away five years later.
Hallock was remembered as a determined woman who fought for equal opportunities for other women.
