Boldt Castle opens for the season

JEFFERSON COUNTY, N.Y. -- One of the biggest attractions in the Thousand Islands is set to open next weekend. Boldt Castle on Heart Island near Alexandria Bay opens Saturday May 10th.

The facility just finished renovations to the Dining Room with new hardwood flooring, chandeliers and several other furnishings. During the 2008 season, the staff will be reconstructing the 2nd floor bedroom suite of George Boldt, the man who built the castle.

In the last 31 years, more than $23 million have been put into renovations and $5.5 million people have visited the castle.

One of the biggest attractions in the thousand-Islands is set to open next weekend. Boldt Castle on Heart Island near Alexandria Bay opens Saturday May 10th.

There are more than 75 weddings scheduled on Boldt Castle this year.
