ENDICOTT, N.Y. -- It was an exciting day for kids in Broome County. As part of Young Eagles Day, children between the ages of 8 and 17 were offered the chance to hop in the cockpit and go for a ride in the sky.
The program is designed to spark interest in flying. As this was a first-time experience for many of the children, pilots made sure they had a smooth ride.
"The kids seem to enjoy most looking down on landmarks that they know, like the blue dolphin or the river and so forth. And the pilots talk to them and tell them what's going to happen and it sets them at ease and makes them a little more relaxed,” said Ron Huffman, Tri-Cities Pilots Association President.

The Tri-Cities Pilots will hold another aviation day in the fall.
