WATERTOWN, N.Y. -- A tow truck driver had to be airlifted to Syracuse Friday morning after he was pinned between his truck and the truck he was trying to tow.
Watertown police say a tractor trailer driver started having shifting problems while driving on I-81. The driver of the truck got off 81 at Exit 46 and pulled over. When the tow truck arrived, the operator got in between the two vehicles. As he was attempting to hook the tractor trailer up, it apparently went into gear by itself, trapping the man between the two trucks.

"They say it's a serious injury, leg injury. He appears to be in good spirits. I'm not a medical doctor, but it doesn't appear to be life threatening," said Lt. Frank Derrigo with the Watertown police.
An Ambulance drove the injured man to Pulaski where they met the helicopter.
