THERESA, N.Y. -- A one car crash late Thursday night sends two to the hospital, but the identity of the driver was a mystery. It happened around midnight in the Jefferson County town of Theresa.

Two female passengers in the car were taken to Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown for treatment of minor injuries.

Police say Christianne Abbate, 17, told them she was driving. But police say further investigation revealed that the actual driver was Joshua Vanalstyne, 22. He was then arrested and charged with two counts of unlawfully dealing with a child, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, speeding and unsafe lane change.

Both Vanalstyne and Abbate will be in court next week.
