BREWERTON, N.Y. - The family of Carol Weaver says her estranged husband threatened to kill her in the past. On Monday night, authorities found her body in the closet of John Weavers home in Brewerton. Carol Weaver's family says she suffered a pattern of abuse.
"She always told us that he was gonna kill her. I mean, she knew...that someday, he was going to kill her," Ashely Pirong says.
Ashley knew something was wrong when her mother didn't show up for her son's fourth birthday party.
"I mean, I talk to my mom all the time and when I didn't hear from her in a couple of days, I knew something was up," Pirong adds.
Police say Carol Weaver was stabbed to death by her estranged husband.
Her family says murder was something he threatened her with in the past.
And she was right.
Syracuse Police Detectives found her body in a spare bedroom closet at her estranged husband's home in Brewerton. Carol's first husband Jim says Carol would come to him after John Weaver beat her.
"He threatened her. He told her, if you ever divorce me, I'll murder you. He's told her time and time again," says Jim Pirong
Pirong says he maintained a close relationship with his ex-wife.
Now he has only one question for John Weaver:
"Why did you kill my wife, John?"
Ashley says Carol doted on her six grandchildren. And she wants people to remember Carol Weaver as a very loving person. Her first husband, Jim, says despite the tragedy, Carol is in a much better place because he says shes no longer has to suffer at the hands of John Weaver.
