STOCKBRIDGE, N.Y. -- A school bus crashes in Madison County with more than two dozen students on board. It happened shortly before 3:00 p.m. Thursday on State Route 46 in Stockbridge.
State Police said Tammy Bluewolf, 42, crossed the center line of the road and crashed into a Stockbridge Valley Central School District bus. Bluewolf had an infant in the van with her at the time.
Twenty-eight students were on board the bus. Five of them were taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation.
State Police are still looking into what caused the van to veer into oncoming traffic.
"It was a little more windy and cloudy, but it wasn't like it was a blizzard or adverse weather conditions at the time of the accident," said State Police Sergeant Tom Haumann.
Bluewolf was taken to University hospital with multiple fractures. The infant in the vehicle was not hurt.
