SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- A shoplifter who says he has AIDS tried to stab a store security guard with a needle. It happened just before 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the Price Chopper on Erie Boulevard.

Police say Francisco Flores, 38, took more than $350 worth of food from the store. The security guard chased Flores out into the road.

Police say that's when Flores pulled out a hypodermic needle and jabbed it at the guard, telling him he has AIDS. The guard is undergoing tests at the hospital.

Flores faces several charges including attempted assault and burglary.
