LYSANDER, N.Y. -- It was the next step in bringing a green-friendly company to Syracuse. Destiny USA Research and Development presented an application to the Industrial development Association Thursday to build a new facility at the Radisson Corporate Park. It would house Serious Materials, a California-based company.

The company makes eco-friendly drywall and could potentially bring 115 jobs to Onondaga County over the next two years.

"We're very much in favor of any long term manufacturing facility that wants to locate its facilities here in Central New York and the Onondaga County region. Primarily because of the fact that this is, again, green manufacturing,” said Robert Baldwin, the chairman of the IDA.

Empire Zone status is desired by Serious Materials and must be approved by the Onondaga County Legislature.

Destiny officials said they would be a customer of Serious Materials using their drywall for the Destiny USA project.

A public hearing on the project is scheduled in Lysander for June 5th at 3:00 p.m.
