Strawberry season in full swing

BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. -- It's one sign that symbolizes the start of summer in Central New York; strawberry season. From now through the first week in July those juicy berries will be at their best.

Emmi Farms in Baldwinsville is one of many places where berries are starting to sell quickly. Experts we spoke with said the weather will continue to impact how big and how sweet the berries will be. They said a good combination of sun and rain is leading to what should be a good season.

"The berries came on fast, flowered quickly and then we had that cold snap if you remember and that slowed them right down and of course back into the warm weather now. So I would say it's somewhere in the middle, the temperature extremes aren't good for any crop but the crops look really good,” said Anthony Emmi, Emmi Farm Owner.

Many local farms allow you to pick your own berries while others like Emmi Farms sell berries at fruit stands.

Strawberries contain more Vitamin C than any other berry and are filled with antioxidants to help keep you healthy.
