CAYUGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Democratic congressman Michael Arcuri is praising an Auburn area education facility for its use of alternative energy.

Arcuri says Cayuga-Onondaga County BOCES has developed a system of geothermal wells, allowing for reduced costs for both air conditioning in the summer months and heating in the winter.

Arcuri says it's the type of project that should set an example for the country.

Democratic congressman Michael Arcuri is praising an Auburn area education facility for its use of alternative energy.
"Geothermal is something that every school can certainly look at. I mean, you know, it takes a large amount of area to bury the wells, but what better than a school that needs the area for sports fields, for soccer fields, for baseball fields, for football fields and that's exactly what we see here," Arcuri said.
Arcuri says democrats are also pressing for oil companies to step up oil production on their existing lands in the U.S. while avoiding price gouging as gas prices skyrocket.
