LEE, N.Y. -- A state review board has denied a Rome area engineer a fire-code variance for upscale homes built at Raven Rock Estates in the town of Lee. A hearing on the issue Thursday in Syracuse was the latest development in the ongoing dispute between residents at Raven Rock and the developer who built the homes.
In December, a state codes compliance specialist found the fire walls between the single-family residences were inadequate.

Residents have also filed a notice of claim, which preserves their right to go to court if the problems are not fixed.
