TOMPKINS COUNTY, N.Y. -- Volunteers will help reconfigure the fenced-in area of the city's Festival Lands.
Officials from the city of Ithaca and the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation announced this week the area needed to be reconfigured to allow state park personnel to drive mowing equipment around the fenced area.
Community members said it's a step towards having a permanent dog park in Ithaca.
"I think it's in our interest to have a good working relation with the city and the state, the new area is going to be larger than the area we have right now," said Pat Pryor, the TCDOG Legalization Committee Chair.
Volunteers will help reconfigure the fenced-in area of the city's Festival Lands.
The re-fencing will happen on Saturday and Sunday.
Anyone who wants to volunteer can meet at the Festival Lands at 9:00 a.m.
