"Heroes of Horticulture"
Updated: 02/03/2008 05:00 AM
By: Terry Ettinger

Terry Ettinger is on the road to the George Eastman House in Rochester to talk about the "Heroes of Horticulture" exhibit, and Amy Kinsey tells us about the inspiration behind it.

“The inspiration came from a collaboration with the Cultural Landscape Foundation out of Washington D.C., and our joint interest at George Eastman House is the history of photography and film, and our landscape department here,” Kinsey said.

“They were chosen because these are landscapes that have witnessed cultural changes and they are also landscapes that for one reason or another are at risk,” said Kinsey.

Garden Journeys
Our Terry Ettinger hit the road, traveling to the George Eastman House in Rochester to talk about the "Heroes of Horticulture" exhibit.

Kinsey explained, “Three of them we consider local landscapes. There is the tree peony collection at Linwood Gardens and there is the Susan B. Anthony historic horse chestnut tree in the tree planting strip right outside her house. And there are the pear trees at the Ellwanger Gardens that were once part of the Ellwanger and Barry Nurseries.”
