Overscheduling kids

It's easy to fall into the trap of overscheduling your child, but some psychologists worry, how much is too much?

"I think it is stressing them out. It's one thing to be active; it is another thing to be overactive. I think kids are playing multiple sports and multiple activities, playing instruments, things like that and being asked to be jack of all trades and mastering none of that," said psychologist Ray Angelini.

Signs your child is doing too much? Things like slipping grades or lack of interest in activities. Also, if your child complains, listen.

"If you push your kids, they are not going to want to do it. It makes them even more tired because they don't want to be there, where ever they are," said junior Alison Faroni.

There is a flip side. Some experts say managing their time and offering them a variety of things to do may have its benefits.

"I think it's good to have the kids scheduled up because it keeps them from having time to be bored and get into trouble and get into trouble," said one parent.

Leave time in your child’s life to be a child.

"We are so caught up in doing that kids don't have time to be, they don't have time to relax and I think if you are going to be imaginative and creative you need time and space to do that," said Angelini. “Let kids be kids and have down time for play and enjoyment because you are only young once and you don't want to busy yourself through your childhood and adolescence.”
