NEW YORK STATE -- Democrats have been able to count on New York to go "blue" for the last several presidential elections, but they’re not taking any chances and are registering far more new Democrats than Republicans since March.
The State Board of Elections figures show Democrats enrolled almost 400,000 more voters statewide as of Wednesday, compared to nearly 60,000 newly registered Republicans.
There are now 5.8 million registered Democrats and 3.1 million registered Republicans in New York State.
