If you ask Darryl Gross, the time needs to be now for the SU football team. Seven years removed from its last winning season, there's no more time for rebuilding. However, after Saturday's 20 point loss at Northwestern, it doesn't look anything's going to change overnight.
While there definitely were a few bright spots in the opener, namely the play of running back Curtis Brinkley, the team looked a whole lot like the one that won just two games last year.
The Orange gave up 21 straight points after taking a one-point lead early in the 3rd. Andrew Robinson was certainly not at his best and Greg Robinson says the defense could have kept the team in the game by getting few key stops.
So with the Akron Zips looming next weekend, the coach knows the learning curve needs to speed up.
SU hosts Akron Saturday at 3:30 p.m. and you can catch that game on our sister station Time Warner Cable Sports.
