FORT DRUM, N.Y. -- A shooting at Fort Drum is being investigated by post officials.

Police say they responded to a 911 call at a soldier's home at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday. Two officers arrived at the home, but when they made contact with 29-year-old Staff Sergeant Dustin McMillen, he pulled out a gun and threatened them. A third officer arrived at the home and shot McMillen. He was taken to Samaritan Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

McMillen was assigned to the 87th Infantry Regiment of the 2nd Battalion in the Third Brigade Combat Team.

Fort Drum officials are expected to hold a press conference about the shooting later this morning.
