SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The only clear Republican candidate in the race for the 25th Congressional District pulls out of the race. Former State Fair Director Peter Cappuccilli announced he is pulling out of the race because of health concerns.

Cappuccilli made the decision to withdraw his name after meeting with doctors. The 57-year-old from Geddes said he must now concentrate on his health and not the rigors of a campaign.

This leaves Democrat Dan Maffei as the only declared candidate in the race to replace Congressman James Walsh, who will retire in November.
