CENTRAL NEW YORK -- Republicans have begun signing up for the race for congress in the 25th congressional district, after former State Fair Director Peter Cappuccilli withdrew from the race because of health concerns.
Republican officials say they've received letters of intent to run from Wayne County state assemblyman Robert Oaks, former Onondaga County Legislature Chairman Dale Sweetland and Manlius village trustee Mark-Paul Serafin. Another republican, David Gay of Syracuse, said he too has submitted a letter of intent.
GOP committees in Onondaga, Wayne, Cayuga and Monroe counties will meet to endorse a candidate in May.
