MADISON COUNTY, N.Y. -- State Police say the Cazenovia teen killed in a fire in DeRuyter last week died of carbon monoxide poisoning. Julia Parker, 17, was unable to make it out of a fire at a cottage she and her friends were staying at. Six others made it out, but Parker was trapped in a bedroom.

Investigators say the fire likely started in the back of the cabin, where combustible materials were sitting close to a wood stove.

Police are also investigating allegations of an underage drinking party Parker allegedly attended at a separate location earlier in the night. Parker's blood alcohol content was over twice the legal driving limit at the time of her death.
