ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The political landscape in Onondaga County is a little clearer. The Republican Party has selected Dale Sweetland as their choice for Congress.
The GOP gathered at the Oncenter Thursday evening to cast their ballots for the nomination. Sweetland won by an overwhelming 94 percent.
Onondaga is the first of four county committees to hold a convention in the 25th congressional district. Onondaga County makes up roughly 70 percent of the voters.
Sweetland says he will now work to get his name out in the other three counties.

"You do that throughout a campaign. That's what a campaign is for. That's the work of a campaign and it's going door-to-door, going to meetings, presenting yourself to voters and letting them known who you are and letting them know you are one of them," Sweetland said.
Sweetland's main opposition in the race for the GOP nod comes from state assemblyman Robert Oaks from Wayne County.
