Wampsville murder remains unsolved
05/09/2008 04:40 PM
By: Joleene Des Rosiers

WAMPSVILLE, N.Y. -- Fifteen years ago, a Madison County couple was shot to death through their living room window. Today, their family is asking for help to solve the crime. It is one police said had no motive.

"I can't see why no one would come forward," said Veronica June.

June is one of 10 children, the children of Jessie and Carl Stabb. She wants what the rest of the Stabb family wants -- the truth about what happened the night of May 10th, 1993. As her 77-year-old father and 66-year-old mother sat in their living room watching television, an unknown individual came up to the south side of their home and opened fire through a window.

"My brother had come home and went in the house because he was staying there at the time and found them," recalled Joan Bodah, another daughter of the Stabb's.

They were dead. Both murdered, gunshot wounds to the head. Police said there was no forced entry and no motive. But interestingly, to date, people still call with information. It's just not enough, yet, to bring someone to justice.

Fifteen years ago a Madison County couple was shot to death through their living room window. Today, their family is asking for help to solve the crime that police said had no motive. Our Joleene Des Rosiers reports from the State Trooper Barracks in Madison County with the details.
"Some people call regularly, leads come in. Other people have information they believe is important to us that may have been interviewed back in 1993, and for whatever reason, didn't think it was important at the time and are bringing it to our attention now," said Edward Marecek, the State Police Investigator on the case.

Anybody with any information is asked to call Oneida State Police at 315-366-6000.
