NEW YORK STATE -- Officials want you to buckle your seat belt as you travel through New York, no matter who you are. Even if you are a 30-foot tall gorilla.
"The beast" and officials from the State Police, DMV and the National Highway Traffic Safety Committee were on the Capitol's West Lawn Wednesday promoting the Buckle-Up New York Click it or Ticket campaign.
Officials want you to buckle your seat belt as you travel through New York, no matter who you are.
"And we’re here to remind drivers and passengers, to buckle up every time they get in a vehicle. That means buckle up whether you're travelling two miles to the local grocery store of 200 miles to visit your family," said David Swarts, New York State Department of Motor Vehicles Commissioner.
This enforcement initiative targets people not wearing seat belts day or night and will run from May 19th through June 1st.
