MASSENA, N.Y. -- The race for the 118th Assembly District seat is starting to heat up as another candidate looks to fill the seat left by Darrel Aubertine. Police Chief Tim Currier announced Tuesday he plans to run.
Currier has been the village police chief for almost 15 years. He's running as a Democrat, although the party has yet to formally endorse anyone.
Currier says he wants to make sure the North Country isn't ignored in the Capitol.
Massena Police Chief Tim Currier has announced his plans to run for the 118th Assembly District seat.
"As we have gone around the last several weeks talking to citizens in this district, we are finding it's very common for people to believe we've been left out of the loop in Albany. I want to go down and be the voice for those people in Albany," said Currier.
Republican Bobby Cantwell and Independent candidate Don Lucas are also running. St. Lawrence County Clerk Pattie Richie announced Monday she will not run for the seat.
