SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The Greater Syracuse Chamber of Commerce will hold a press conference to announce their support for Town of Clay police merger. Chamber members and elected officials are expected to speak out in support of the merger.
In May the Onondaga County Legislature agreed to accept the transfer of police functions from the town of Clay to the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office, but since then the town has been split on who they will support.

The Greater Syracuse Chamber of Commerce will hold a press conference to announce their support for Town of Clay police merger. Chamber members and elected officials are expected to speak out in support of the merger.
People in favor are saying the merger would result in a $1.3 million tax cut after just one year. But members of the Clay Police Benevolent Association are saying patrol levels in the town would decrease by about 15 to 20 percent.
People in the town will vote on the merger on Monday, June 23rd.
The press conference begins at 10:00 Thursday morning and will be at Exhibits and More along Goguen Drive in Liverpool.
