ITHACA, N.Y. -- The view from the sky in Ithaca Sunday afternoon was quite "peaceful." That's because over 6,000 people at the Ithaca Festival joined together to form a giant peace sign.

A sophomore at Ithaca High School organized the event. He wanted to create a new record in the Guiness Book of World Records for the largest human peace sign.

"We're in e-mail contact with Guiness World Records and we're going to send them all of this information and statements from people who came like the mayor and we're just going to see. We'll find out about that in a couple of months,” said Trevor Dougherty, Human Peace Sign Organizer.

There is no current record for a human peace sign.
