BLACK RIVER, N.Y. -- An elderly woman was killed and two firefighters were injured in an apartment fire Monday afternoon in the village of Black River.

Firefighters responded to the Kamargo apartments which is a senior living complex. All occupants had to be evacuated and are being assisted by the Red Cross. The fire was contained to one apartment.

"Naturally you always have problems with man power during the middle of the day. We did receive mutual aid here from Fort Drum Fire Department as well as Calcium, city of Watertown as well as town of Watertown Fire Department sending in engine standby," said Joe Plummer, Jefferson County Fire and Emergency Management.
