OSWEGO COUNTY, N.Y. -- A second pool of mosquitoes has tested positive for the EEE virus in Oswego County. Those mosquitoes were collected near the Village of Central Square on August 18th.
EEE stands for Eastern Equine Encephalitis.
The first pool of mosquitoes to test positive were found near the Toad Harbor Swamp in the town of West Monroe. The virus is most commonly found in mosquitoes that bite birds, not ones that feed on humans or other animals.
The health department says aerial spraying of the area will not be necessary right now.
