ALEXANDRIA BAY, N.Y. -- The company that had to evacuate one of its tour boats Saturday on Alexandria Bay says there was no fire. Instead, an engine overheated.

A spokesman for Uncle Sam's Boat Tours says the smoke was generated from melting plastic in the engine room. One hundred and one passengers were moved from the 'Alexandria Bell' to other tour boats.

They were about half way through what they call a "Two Nation Tours" when the emergency occurred.

The company says Sunday would have been the last day the boat was in service. Instead it will be docked until spring.
