ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - State officials are launching a crackdown on drinking and driving to coincide with the holiday season.
This latest enforcement wave starts today and continues through New Year's Day. It's the last of the six heightened enforcement periods throughout the year.

Law enforcement officials throughout the state will use sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols to reduce the incidence of drunken-driving. There will also be a complementary television and radio advertising campaign. All 62 counties in the state will be participating in the program.
During the last major crackdown, there were over 2,700 arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
