Last minute Thanksgiving shopping
Updated: 11/26/2008 01:11 PM
ELBRIDGE, N.Y. -- There's one key word for shoppers and that word is patience. As you head to the grocery store there's a good chance the store will be busy and you'll have to exercise a little patience as you may encounter some long lines at places like the deli or the checkout counters.
Typically, the day before Thanksgiving is a huge day for grocery stores like the Big M in Elbridge because many stores won't be open at all Thursday due to the holiday.
At the Big M they've stocked up on popular items like turkeys, pies, and vegetables and it will also be a big day for sales on items like sugar, eggs, and milk.
It's commonly known as the busiest day of the year for grocery stores across the country. Many of us will rush to the grocery store to pick up those last minute essentials for the Thanksgiving Day table. Brad Vivacqua is at the Elbridge Big M picking up some last minute items himself.
According to the American Farm Bureau Federation the cost for the average Thanksgiving dinner for ten this year will cost you just over $44, that's up six percent compared to last year. That's why it's a good idea to stick to a list and remember those coupons.
