Senate Republicans in Albany have passed a bill calling for the death penalty for convicted cop killers.
The move comes in the wake of recent deaths involving law enforcement officials throughout New York State, including New Hartford Police Officer Joseph Corr and Utica Police Officer Thomas Lindsey.
The legislation would establish the death penalty for the intentional murder of an officer.
Supporters say the move is long overdue.
The measure isn't certain to become law however, it must pass through the Assembly and get approval from the Governor.
