POTSDAM, N.Y. -- Getting a job can be a lot of work. That's why Clarkson University hosted more than 100 companies at its job fair Thursday to help students get a leg up.
With New York State's current unemployment rate at nine percent, up more than three percent from last year, students are feeling the pressure to explore the job market and secure jobs much earlier this year.
"With the job market and the economy these days, jobs are rare things to find. So the longer you wait, the less chance you have to find a job," sophomore Nicholas Simon said.
While getting a head start counts, students and company representatives both agreed, now more than ever, networking with alumni is also an important tool while trying to land a job.
