Great American Smokeout

It's the 34th year of the Great American Smokeout. The smokeout is a day set aside by the American Cancer Society. And as our Joleene Des Rosiers tells us, it's also a day for hospitals in the Syracuse area to enforce their own smoking ban law.

DEC cleans up tire dumps

You may have noticed in the past five years that New York State is looking a bit cleaner. According to the latest report from the Department of Environmental Conservation, more than 26.5 million tires have been removed from dumps across the state.

SUNY Cortland says no thanks to big tobacco

Studies show 18 to 25-year olds have the highest rate of tobacco use at 18 percent nationwide, and it's the only group whose numbers are not going down. SUNY Cortland has partnered with the Onondaga County Health department to address the issue, and educators told Tamara Lindstrom that means saying no thanks to big tobacco.

Munck sentenced to five years probation

A Town of Union man is sentenced to five years probation in connection with the death of his little brother. Back in August, a jury found Shawn Munck, 23, guilty of criminally negligent homicide.

Orange women improve to 3-0

The Syracuse University women's basketball team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 74-66 win over Alabama State Thursday night at Manley Field House.

Top recruit chooses Tennessee over Syracuse

Tobias Harris, one of the top high school basketball recruits in the country, has signed a letter of intent to play at the University of Tennessee.




Testimony wraps up in Joe Bruno trial

FAA says flight computers working again

FAA officials say failed computers that delayed flights across the country are now working again. The air traffic controllers union says the computer failure involved both of the Federal Aviation Administration's computer centers in Salt Lake City and Atlanta.
